Media Buyer — Meta, DTC subscription

Remote · Freelance / fractional

Europe

Description

We are hiring a Media Buyer for a subscription pet care brand selling direct to consumers across five European markets (France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany). Meta is our main acquisition channel. We name the brand at the first call.

This is a fractional / freelance engagement, fully remote, for the long run. We want the person who is in the accounts, not the person who reports on them.

Why this role exists

Our in-house creative engine ships new assets faster than most teams can launch them: statics at volume, several AI video formats, advertorial and listicle landing pages per market. That output is only worth what the buying does with it.

We need someone who can turn a very high creative throughput into clean, disciplined spend across five markets — structure the accounts, run the testing, protect the cost targets, and scale what deserves it.

What you would actually do

  • Operate the Meta accounts daily across markets: structure, budgets, testing, scaling, cutting.
  • Run creative testing at volume — a launch cadence measured in concepts per day, with a rule for what gets killed and when.
  • Hold the cost targets. New-customer CPA and contribution margin are the scoreboard; platform ROAS on its own is not.
  • Balance spend between markets, defend the core market and make the smaller ones work.
  • Close the loop with creative: tell the strategist what the account is actually saying, in time for it to change the next brief.
  • Keep the measurement honest: tracking, events, attribution sanity — flag what makes performance unreadable instead of living with it.

How the process works

  1. You apply here (10 minutes).
  2. If there is a fit, we send a context pack and give you access to the ad account.
  3. A paid first call (one hour): you bring your read of the account — what you would fix first, and what in the data makes you say so.
  4. A paid trial period on a defined scope, so the decision is made on results rather than on interviews.
  5. Retainer.

What will not work here

  • A director or head-of who has not been inside an ad account in a year.
  • An account manager role dressed up as a buyer.
  • Pure Google or search-only experience, with Meta as a footnote.
  • Scaling stories with no numbers, and no view on incrementality.

Requirements

  • Hands-on Meta buying at scale for DTC, ideally subscription: account structure, budget scaling, creative-testing discipline, multi-account and multi-market management.
  • Senior individual contributor — roughly three to eight years of buying, and you still run the accounts yourself.
  • Measurement literacy beyond platform ROAS: MER, new-customer CAC, incrementality, and an honest view of what attribution can and cannot tell you.
  • Comfortable with very high creative volume — you have plugged buying into a creative factory before, or you can explain exactly how you would.
  • Genuinely available fractionally, with a clear rate and a defined engagement format.
  • Plus points: subscription / CPG / pet experience, European markets or languages, automation and scripting habits, advertorial and listicle funnels.

What we offer

  • Every step of the process is paid, including the first call and the trial.
  • Creative is never the blocker. You will not spend your weeks waiting for assets.
  • Five markets to work with, a mature core market and smaller ones with real upside.
  • Instrumented decisions: internal dashboards, computed cost targets, daily reporting — you steer with numbers, not with hunches.
  • Direct line to the decision maker. No account layer between you and the person who says yes.

Compensation: Paid first call and paid trial period. Retainer to be agreed on scope.
